Sumo Digital, part of Sumo Group PLC and a leading independent video game developer, today announced that its newest studio – Sumo Warrington – has moved to its new home in the Cheshire town’s contemporary The Base grade A office building and hired Andrew Jones as Associate Technical Director.

Sumo Warrington is Sumo Digital’s seventh UK and eighth global studio, with a focus on the sustainable delivery of high-end, multi-platform, programming and technical problem-solving services to prestigious clients.

Scott Kirkland, Studio Director, Sumo Warrington said: “Being in this fantastic space and nurturing such a talented team is incredibly exciting. I’m delighted to have Andrew on board as we continue to expand in the North West of England. With a wealth of varied and technically challenging opportunities ahead, I’m really looking forward to engaging a squad of game technologists over the coming weeks, months and years to further cement Sumo’s reputation for excellence and success.”

Andrew Jones, Associate Technical Director, Sumo Warrington added: “Becoming a part of this new team is a great opportunity. We’ve got our own remit here along with the support of one of the UK’s biggest and most highly regarded independent studios – it’s the best of both worlds!”
Andrew Jones brings 20 years of games and game technology programming experience, a decade of which was spent on platform-defining titles as a Sony first party developer. Prior to joining Sumo Warrington, Andrew founded an indie studio, created premium apps for iOS and Android, and co-architected a successful multi-platform social VR application.

Sumo Warrington is located at The Base, a short walk from the town’s newly developed central leisure and retail attractions with rail links providing easy access to the nearby cities of Liverpool, Manchester and Chester.
