£43.3m cash boost for Cheshire & Warrington to help create local jobs and growth
Communities Secretary Sajid Javid today announced a government cash boost of £43.3 million for Cheshire & Warrington to help create jobs, support businesses and encourage growth.
Some of the locally-chosen projects set to benefit over the next few years include a new bus interchange in Crewe, a new highways access scheme and local road upgrading to improve infrastructure around Winsford Industrial Estate and a scheme for Warrington East Highway Improvements designed to unlock land for development around Birchwood. These projects, alongside others, will improve educational attainment, create jobs, build homes or improve infrastructure.
This latest award of Local Growth Funding is on top of £157.8 million of Growth Deals funding already awarded to Cheshire & Warrington. The total award could see over 17,000 jobs created, over 6,400 homes built and attract nearly £380 million in other investment over the next 10 years.
