Family-owned thread manufacturer in Chester acquires Warrington business
Family-owned industrial thread manufacturer Somac Threads has given its market share a boost with its latest acquisition.
The deal, backed by Yorkshire Bank, saw the Chester-based company purchase sewing thread specialist Holrose Sewing Threads and its Sylkay Textiles Ltd arm.
Somac Threads is now in the process of moving stock from Warrington to its base at Chesterbank Business Park, where it has invested in its warehouse facility to cope with the extra demand.
Paul Dunderdale, the firm’s general manager, said: “We are quite unique in that we manufacture our own products and distribute brands for partners – we also have a dedicated embroidery division and specialise in high end natural materials such as linen, which are extremely popular, especially with our international markets.
“However, we have been eager to broaden our product range and bring even more options to our customers.”
