Meadow Foods Buys Dairy Oil Maker

Cheshire & Warrington News

Cheshire dairy business Meadow Foods has acquired a manufacturer of edible dairy-based oils in Wrexham.

Roil Foods makes oils including Organic AMF, Concentrated Butter and Butter Ghee which Meadow Foods does not currently produce.

Its products are supplied to chocolate makers, bakeries, food manufacturers and the retail market.

The ability to manufacture these new products, in addition to Meadow Food’s AMF and butter, is expected to enhance the company’s offering to customers across Europe and rest of world as well as expand the packaging range offered.

The deal is part of the dairy group’s strategic objective of growing the business through organic expansion and acquisition.

It follows a strategic investment into Meadow Foods from Paine Schwartz Partners, a leading global food and agribusiness investment firm, in autumn 2016.

Mark Chantler, chief executive of Meadow Foods, said: “This acquisition will further strengthen our portfolio of quality dairy ingredients and marks the next step in the delivery of the ambitious growth plans we have for the business.

“There are obvious operational synergies between the businesses and we’re excited by the opportunity to extend our range and reach into new markets and product lines.”
