A Warrington-headquartered IT group has returned to a pre-tax profit and edged turnover towards the £250m mark, with the company already “well ahead” of last year.
VIP (Group) Ltd comprises five subsidiaries – CMS Computers, Ergo Computing UK, VIP Computer Centre UK, VIP Computers BV and VIP Computers LLC. The first three are based in England, with the latter two operating out of The Netherlands and the US respectively.
It employs a workforce of about 230.
For the year to 30 June 2017, VIP (Group) reported turnover of £246m compared to £225m the previous 12 months.
It also made a pre-tax profit of £346,000 having made a loss of £281,000 in 2016.
Individually, the companies within the group generally performed well.
VIP Computer Centre’s turnover was up from £89.7m to £94.8m, while VIP Computers BV was boosted by a sales rise from £106.5m to £127m. VIP Computers LLC posted a healthy increase in sales from £7m to £9m, while Ergo Computing UK’s performance “improved significantly”, although it still reported a loss. However, the group noted that its movement “continues in the right direction”.
Revenue at CMS Computers contracted further from £23.1m to £19.6m, with this being attributed to lower sales volumes and worsening margin as excess stock was liquidated.
